First we started with the dark wood picture rails, these just had to be removed to heighten the rooms and hallway areas. It was a simple job, all you need to do is scrape the paint near wall edges length ways along the rails and then attack with a crowbar. The only annoying thing was being such an old house the nails and pieces of wood holding the rail to the double brick walls, were a little larger than we imagined, therefore wall putty was needed to fill the gaps/ holes in the walls.
Next was removing the God ugly brown carpet that was laid before the turn of the century - Honestly this was the stinkiest, most damp carpet I had ever seen. We will (to my dismay, as I want floorboards) replace the carpet - we are thinking charcoal or a dark grey, in theme with our colour palate of the house; White, grey, dark gray and yellow.

Next stage painting and choosing our colours to suit our palate!
